Now Available: Living Legends: Latin America (My New Homeschool Curriculum)
I am excited to announce that today is the official launch date of my new curriculum, Living Legends: Latin America.
If you’ve been wondering where to find high-quality, authentic materials to study the history and cultures of ancient Latin America, look no further. Today, I’m sharing all that you need to know to see if this homeschool curriculum would be a good fit for your family.
What is Living Legends: Latin America?
Living Legends: Latin America is a semester-long, literature-based curriculum for elementary school students that is focused on the history and myths of ancient Latin American cultures. It includes 18 weeks of plans that pair authentic, living texts with meaningful extension activities in history, geography, music, poetry, and art. Together, these readings and activities are designed to immerse your family in the diverse traditions of this region, going beyond simple exposure towards deeper appreciation and understanding of these cultures.
The curriculum is “flexibly bilingual” to support families of all language backgrounds. All plans are written in English, and the entire curriculum can be completed solely in English, but it also includes resources and read-aloud options in Spanish, to support families (like mine!) who want to reinforce both languages at home.
What’s Included in Living Legends: Latin America?
Every weekly plan in Living Legends: Latin America, includes:
A recommended picture book or story to read aloud (along with a summary and content notes for parents);
Discussion questions to deepen your children’s engagement with the weekly read-aloud; and
Low-prep (and no-prep) activities to extend your learning in the areas of history/geography, music/poetry, and art.
In addition, I’ve included an easy-to-reference schedule overview to help you organize your homeschool and make the curriculum as open-and-go as possible.
How can I use Living Legends: Latin America?
There are so many ways that this curriculum can serve your family. Here are a few:
As part of an ancient history cycle.
As a schedule for hands-on Spanish activities in a co-op classroom.
As a supplement to your homeschool Spanish language study (read more about why cultural learning is so important in this post).
